The
Fuzion Project for 2003 - Where Your Kind Donations Go:
One
of the harshest realities of Israel today is that children
aren't safe on the streets anymore. Hundreds of Israeli
children have been killed or wounded in terror attacks
over the last two years. More than 400 have lost one or
both parents in such attacks. And many thousands of others
have lost something else: their childhood. They can no
longer go freely to the mall, the playground or out with
their friends - normal everyday things that children do.
Particularly vulnerable are the 500,000 Israeli children
who are currently living below the poverty line - children
whose parents can barely afford food let alone after-school
activities. Offered in 1,000 locations across Israel,
the UJIA Extended School Day programme offers these
children a safe and secure environment where they can
take part in social and educational activities. In addition
they are given extra tuition and help with their homework,
as well as a hot, nutritious meal - a luxury many of
their parents cannot provide. In this way we are doing
much more than keeping them off the streets, we are
giving them back their childhood.
Fuzion has adopted a class in a school in Tsfat and
aims to raise £25,000 this year.
